As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Hit Shooting – 400 block of Shoreline Village Drive: On May 25, 2025 at approximately 10:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Shoreline Village Drive regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female adult victim with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital. Officers also responded to local hospitals to contact a male adult victim and a 14-year-old male victim, who both had self-transported after sustaining non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the lower body. The preliminary investigation indicates that an altercation occurred between a large group of subjects outside near a boat, which escalated when at least one suspect discharged a firearm. The group and boat fled the scene before officers arrived.
Officers located a boat matching the description nearby and conducted a vessel stop. Officers contacted the sole occupant, identified as Joshua Eduardo Jones, a 43-year-old resident of Apple Valley, who was safely arrested and transported to the Long Beach Jail, where he was booked for felon in possession of a firearm, prohibited possessor in possession of ammunition, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, and carrying a loaded firearm in a public place. Bail was set at No Bail.
The motive, circumstances of the shooting, and suspect information are under investigation.
