Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!
As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Hit Shooting – 10th Street and Cerritos Avenue: On July 1, 2025at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers responded to the area of 10th Street and Cerritos Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and a male adult suspect were in a verbal altercation, which escalated when the suspect shot the victim. The suspect fled prior to officers’ arrival. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
- Hit Shooting – 68th Street and Long Beach Boulevard: On July 2, 2025 at approximately 2:00 a.m., officers responded to assist deputies from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department who located a shooting victim in the area of Artesia Boulevard and the 710 freeway. Upon arrival, officers contact a male adult victim with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was in the area of 68th Street and Long Beach Boulevard when the shooting occurred. Officers were unable to locate a crime scene. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting are under investigation The investigation is ongoing.
