As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- No-Hit Shooting- 5800 Block of Gundry Avenue: On Aug. 29, 2025 at approximately 5:56 p.m., officers responded to the 5800 block of Gundry Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted one victim and located evidence that a shooting had occurred. The preliminary investigation indicates that a male adult suspect shot once at the male adult victim after a verbal altercation. No injuries occurred; however, one vehicle was struck by a projectile. The investigation is ongoing.
- Stabbing- 1200 Block of Walnut Avenue: On Aug. 29, 2025 at approximately 8:05 p.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of Walnut Avenue regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital. The investigation is still ongoing.
- Stabbing- 5400 Block of Atlantic Avenue: On Aug. 29, 2025 at approximately 8:17 p.m., officers responded to the 5400 block of Atlantic Avenue regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital. The investigation is still ongoing.
- No-Hit Shooting- 1100 block of Atlantic Avenue: On Aug. 30, 2025 at approximately 3:39 a.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Atlantic Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located evidence indicating a shooting had occurred. The preliminary investigation indicates that a female adult suspect fired in the direction of a group of male adults who fled the scene. No victims were identified or located, and no injuries were reported. The investigation is still ongoing.
