As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

Stabbing – 100 block of Pacific Avenue: On Aug. 17, 2025, at 5:42 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Pacific Avenue regarding a stabbing. Upon their arrival, officers located a 16-year-old male victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital. Officers quickly located the male adult suspect as he attempted to flee the scene. While being arrested, the suspect assaulted an officer, who did not sustain any injuries. The suspect was identified as Christopher Ivan Gonzalez, a 34-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was booked for attempted murder, resisting arrest, resisting arrest by means of force or violence, and disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $1,000,000. The investigation is ongoing.
