As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

Murder Investigation - 0 block of Cedar Walk - On April 12, 2025, at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 0 block of Cedar Walk regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male victim with gunshot wounds. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Homicide detectives are responding to investigate. A news release detailing the incident is forthcoming.

Hit-Shooting – Cedar Avenue and Anaheim Street – On April 13, 2025 at approximately 12:37 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Cedar Avenue and Anaheim Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence indicating a shooting had occurred. No suspect(s) nor victim(s) were on scene when officers arrived. A short while later, officers were notified that a male adult with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound had self-transported to a local hospital. Officers responded to the hospital and determined the male adult was the victim of the shooting on Cedar Avenue and Anaheim Street. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was engaged in a verbal altercation with three male adult suspects, which escalated when of the suspects revealed a firearm and shot the victim. The investigation is ongoing.
