Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!
As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Officers investigate a hit shooting: On Sept. 2, 2022, at approximately 7:43 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Ellis Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with a gunshot wound to the lower body and a male adult victim with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene and transported both victims to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers located evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. The suspect(s) fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. At this time, the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
- Officers investigate a no-hit shooting: On Sept. 2, 2022, at approximately 10:58 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West 52nd Street regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. Upon arrival, a male adult victim stated he was engaged in an argument with two male adult suspects, which resulted in the shooting. The victim did not sustain any injuries during the incident. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
- Officers investigate a hit shooting: On Sept. 3, 2022, at approximately 2:08 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Daisy Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. The Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. The suspect(s) fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
- Officers investigate shooting into an unoccupied vehicle or inhabited dwelling: On Sept. 3, 2022, at approximately 2:51 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Ridgewood Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located strike marks on an unoccupied vehicle and an inhabited dwelling. Preliminary investigation revealed the suspect discharged a firearm towards the unoccupied vehicle and inhabited dwelling. The suspect(s) fled prior to officers’ arrival. The occupant of the dwelling was not injured. The investigation is ongoing.
