Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!
As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Hit Shooting - Cerritos Avenue and 7th Street. On Sep. 12, 2022 at approximately 11:11 p.m., officers responded to the area of Cerritos Avenue and 7th Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Officers began rendering medical aid to the victim until the Fire Department arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital. Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was shot by an unknown male adult suspect who then fled the area. Officers located evidence, including casings. Additional suspect information and the motive is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
- Armed Robbery with Shots Fired - 5500 block of Long Beach Boulevard. On Sep. 13, 2022 at approximately 4:18 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 5500 block of Long Beach Boulevard regarding a shots call. Through the preliminary investigation, officers learned a male adult victim was pumping gas when a male adult suspect approached him, brandished a firearm, and robbed him of personal property. The victim and suspect got into a physical fight, during which the suspect fired shots. The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. The victim did not sustain any injuries. Officers located evidence, including casings. The investigation is ongoing.
