Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate non-fatal hit-shooting - On 10/2/2022, at approximately 3:52 a.m., officers responded to the area of Anaheim Street and Deforest Avenue regarding a report of a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. The victim stated he was near the area when he was approached by two male adult suspects armed with firearms who began shooting at him. The victim was struck by gunfire and the suspects fled the scene prior to officers arrival. Officers discovered evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
  • Officers investigate non-fatal stabbing - On 10/2/2022, at approximately 3:09 a.m., officers responded to a local hospital regarding a report of a stab victim. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds to the lower body. The victim stated he was near the area of 10th street and Termino Avenue when he was approached by an unknown male adult suspect who attempted to rob him, which escalated to the stabbing. The victim self-transported to a local hospital. Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate a crime scene. The investigation is ongoing
  • Officers investigate no-hit shooting - On 10/1/2022 at approximately 6:41 a.m., officers responded to the 3300 block of South Street regarding a no-hit shooting. Through their investigation, officers determined an unknown male suspect fired shots at an unknown male victim near the area. Both parties fled the scene prior to officers arrival. Officers discovered evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. At this time, no injuries were reported, no suspect information is available, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
