Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • SWAT Activation Results in Arrest of Stabbing Suspect - Yesterday at approximately 6:56 p.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Locust Avenue regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. Responding officers attempted to make contact with a male adult suspect, however he barricaded himself inside of a residence. Preliminary investigation suggests the victim was in a verbal altercation with the suspect, which resulted in the suspect stabbing the victim. Officers established a perimeter, the SWAT team was activated, and nearby residents evacuated and/or sheltered in place. Officers made contact with the suspect, negotiators attempted to deescalate the situation for several hours, but the suspect refused to surrender. A short while later, a use of force occurred, and the suspect was taken into custody. The Long Beach Fire Department who was already on scene, transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. Once the suspect is medically cleared, he will be transported to Long Beach City Jail where he will be booked. The investigation is ongoing.
