Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate an armed carjacking. Early this morning, at approximately 2:15 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Shoreline Drive regarding an armed carjacking incident. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female adult victim who stated she was inside of her vehicle when a male adult suspect pointed a handgun at her and ordered her out of her vehicle. The suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle westbound on Shoreline Drive toward the 710 freeway. The victim was unharmed. The investigation is ongoing.  
  • Officers investigate a fatal stabbing. Yesteday at approximately 4:47 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of  San Gabriel Avenue to assist the Long Beach Fire Department personnel. Upon arrival, officers located two male adult victims who appear to be known to each other with injuries. Despite the attempts at life-saving measures, one of the men has been determined deceased. Through their preliminary investigation, officers learned a male adult suspect stabbed a male adult victim, following a confrontation between the two. After stabbing the victim, the suspect ran to the security guard shack to report the incident. He is cooperating with the investigation. Homicide Detectives responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
