Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!
As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Officers investigate hit shooting: On Nov 13, 2022, at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of West 4th Street regarding a report of shots heard in the area. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The victim stated he was near the area when he was approached by a male adult suspect who shot him and fled the scene on foot. Officers located evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. At this time, the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
- Officers investigate a dead body: Today at approximately 6:21 a.m., officers responded to the area of Pacific Coast Highway and the Los Angeles Riverbed to assist the Long Beach Fire Department regarding a report of a dead body. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has been contacted and will respond to the scene to assist with the investigation. At this time, no information regarding the decedent nor the circumstances of their death have yet been determined. Traffic on Pacific Coast Highway is constricted as officers are currently on scene.The investigation is ongoing.
