Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!
As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- There were no reported shootings or stabbings.
- *Update 5/16/22* Officers Investigate Strong Arm Robbery - Today, at approximately 3:36 p.m., officers responded to the 6100 block of Long Beach Boulevard regarding a report of a strong-arm robbery. Upon arrival, officers contacted a 16-year-old female victim who stated she was walking near the area when an unknown sedan, occupied by three male suspects, pulled up nearby. One suspect exited the vehicle, tackled and physically assaulted the victim, and attempted to remove multiple items of jewelry from the victim. The suspect reentered the sedan and fled the scene in the sedan prior to officers arrival – At this time, it is unknown if the suspects fled with the victim’s property or not. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and treated the victim for minor injuries at the scene.The investigation is ongoing.
The suspects are described as follows:
- Suspect 1: Male black, approximately 30 years old, with tall and thin build.
- Suspect 2: Unknown male black.
- Suspect 3: Unknown male black.
- Suspect Vehicle:Black four-door sedan.
- We are aware that there is a video circulating on social media that shows a possible suspect vehicle involved in the incident; however, this video is not evidence that our department has yet received or released. We have reached out to the owner of this video to further investigate the video’s contents.

*Update 5/16/2022 - This page was updated to include information regarding a strong robbery that occurred*
