Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!
As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Officers investigate a hit shooting near the 3900 block of Anaheim Street - Today, at approximately 4:34 p.m., officers responded to the 3900 block of Anaheim Street regarding a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition. At this time, no suspect information is available and the motive for the shooting is unknown. Officers are currently on scene conducting their investigation. Officers investigate hit-shooting near the 2400 block of Cedar Avenue- Last night, at approximately 10:01 p.m., officers responded to the 2400 block of Cedar Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. The victim stated he was near his residence when an unknown vehicle pulled up nearby and an unknown number of suspects in the vehicle fired shots and fled the scene prior to officers arrival. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers located evidence indicating a shooting had occurred, including casings, and several residences and parked unoccupied vehicles that had been struck by gunfire. No other injuries were reported. At this time, no suspect information is available and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
- Officers locate evidence of a shooting - This morning, at approximately 1:26 a.m., officers responded to the area of 27th Street and Cedar Avenue regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. At this time, no injuries were reported, no suspect information is available and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
- Officers investigate a hit shooting near the 8100 Block of East Wardlow Road - This morning, at approximately 5:02 a.m., officers responded to the 8100 block of East Wardlow Road regarding a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. The victim is experiencing homelessness in the area and stated he was inside his tent when an unknown male suspect approached his tent and both parties entered into a verbal dispute that escalated to the shooting. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arrival. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
