Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!
As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.

Officers Arrest Suspect in Non-Fatal Stabbing - Last night, at approximately 8:25 p.m., officers responded to a park near the 2800 block of Strudebaker Road regarding a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim suffering from stab wounds to the upper body who stated a male adult suspect approached him; Both parties entered into a verbal dispute that escalated to the stabbing. Officers located the suspect nearby, arrested him, and seized a knife. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was identified as Patrick Wayne Thurmond, a 56-year-old person experiencing homelessness who was booked for one count of assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $30,000. The investigation is ongoing.
o Officers Investigate a No-Hit Shooting- Last night, at approximately 9:47 p.m., officers responded to the 6100 block of Atlantic Avenue regarding a no-hit shooting; Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim who stated he was walking in the area when an unknown male suspect driving an unknown vehicle pulled up alongside him, shot at him, then fled the scene prior to officer arrival. Officers located evidence, including a parked vehicle that had been struck by gunfire, indicating a shooting had occurred. No injuries were reported. The motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing
