Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!
As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
Officers investigate a miscellaneous firearm discharge: On July 25, 2022 at approximately 10:51 p.m., officers were patrolling near the 1900 block of Pine Avenue when they heard multiple gunshots coming from the alleyway. Officers checked the alleyway and located several casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. The officer did not locate a suspect or victim. Evidence was collected and the investigation is ongoing.
Officers investigate a no-hit shooting: On July 26, 2022 at approximately 1:23 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Orange Avenue and Goldfield Avenue regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim who stated he was driving in the area of Orange Avenue and Goldfield Avenue when two male adult suspects pulled up next to him in a vehicle and shot at him. The victim did not sustain any injuries, but the victim’s vehicle was struck. The suspects fled prior to officers’ arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
Officers investigate a stabbing: On July 26, 2022 at approximately 2:05 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 67th Street and Atlantic Avenue regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from a non-life-threatening stab wound to his upper body. Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. Preliminary investigation revealed the victim and male adult suspect were engaged in an argument, which resulted in the stabbing. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
Officers investigate a no-hit shooting: On July 26, 2022 at approximately 3:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Beverly Plaza regarding a person with a gun. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim who stated he was seated in his vehicle when a male adult suspect pulled on the vehicle’s door handle. The victim screamed and the suspect subsequently pointed a firearm at the victim. The suspect did not shoot the firearm. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
Officers investigate a stabbing and robbery: On July 26, 2022 at approximately 3:14 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West Cowles Street regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim and female adult victim who stated they were engaged in a verbal argument with a male adult suspect. During the argument, the suspect stabbed the male victim multiple times in the upper body. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the male victim to a local hospital. During the altercation, the suspect took the victims’ property. The investigation is ongoing.
