Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!
As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.

Officers Investigate Homicide - Last night, at approximately 7:33 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Cedar Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers provided first aid to the victim until the Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was later determined deceased. While on scene, officers received information leading them to believe the suspect was possibly barricaded in a nearby residence on the 2300 block of Cedar Avenue. A perimeter was established, and SWAT resources were deployed. Three persons of interest have been detained for questioning by Homicide detectives, who were notified and responded to the scene. - Officers Investigate Hit Shooting -This morning, at approximately 1:41 a.m.., officers responded to a local hospital regarding a report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. The victim stated earlier that night, he was riding his bicycle near the area of Long Beach Boulevard and Artesia Boulevard when a vehicle pulled up alongside him. Two unknown male suspects exited the vehicle and took his cell phone, resulting in an altercation between both parties that escalated to the shooting. The victim self transported to a local hospital. Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate a crime scene. The investigation is ongoing
