Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!
As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Officers Investigate a no-hit-shooting - On 7/12/2022, at approximately 8:08 p.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Maine avenue regarding a report of a no hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. Through their preliminary investigation, officers determined two groups of unknown suspects in the area exchanged gunfire and fled the scene prior to officers arrival. At this time, no injuries were reported, no suspect information is available, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
- Officers Investigate a hit shooting - On 7/12/2022 at approximately 9:38 p.m., officers responded to the 2300 block of East 15th Street regarding a report of a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Through the preliminary investigation, offices determined the victim was inside his residence with an acquaintance, a male adult suspect, when both parties entered into a verbal dispute that escalated to the shooting. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arrival. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition. Officers located evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. The investigation is ongoing.
