Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate non-fatal shooting: On 1/9/23, at approximately 9:29 p.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Lemon Avenue regarding a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the lower body. The victim stated he was walking when an unknown suspect inside of a vehicle shot him. The suspect vehicle fled the scene prior to officer arrival. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, no suspect information is available and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.


    Officers investigate non-fatal stabbing: On 1/10/23, at approximately 4:12 a.m., officers responded to the 6600 block of Long Beach Boulevard regarding a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from stab wounds to the upper body. The victim stated he was inside his residence with an acquaintance when they became involved in a verbal dispute that escalated to the stabbing. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and treated the victim at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
