Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • No-Hit Shooting and Battery – 1200 block of W 16th Street - Yesterday at approximately 11:27 p.m., officers were dispatched to 1200 block of W 16th Street regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening injuries to the lower and upper body. Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The victim stated that he was working on a vehicle when he was approached by two, unknown male adult suspects who abruptly began to batter him with their fists and an unknown metal object. Once the battery concluded, the victim fled on foot, when he heard presumed gunfire coming from the original scene. The suspects fled toward an unknown direction.  Officers located evidence, including casings. No other injuries were reported. The motive for the incident is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.

  • No-Hit Shooting – 700 block of Via Wanda - Yesterday at approximately 6:58 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Via Wanda regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including bullet casings and strike marks, indicating a shooting had occurred. No injuries were reported, no suspect information is known, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
