LBPD Blotter – August 8, 2022

Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate a non-fatal stabbing-   This morning, at approximately 2:10 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of West Del Amo Boulevard regarding a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim suffering from stab wounds to the upper body. The victim stated he was near the area he was approached by an unknown male suspect who initiated a verbal dispute that escalated to the stabbing. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
  • Officers investigate a no-hit shooting - Last night, at approximately 9:54 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of East Esther Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers discovered evidence, including casings and a residence that had been struck by gunfire, indicating a shooting had occurred. No injuries were reported. At this time, no suspect information is available, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
