Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate a stabbing: On Aug. 30, 2022, at approximately 10:04 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Spaulding Street regarding a stabbing that just occurred. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. The victim refused medical treatment. Preliminary investigation revealed the victim attempted to break up a dispute between multiple subjects, which resulted in the stabbing. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
  • Officers investigate a stabbing: On Aug. 30, 2022, at approximately 11:32 p.m., officers were dispatched to a local hospital regarding a male adult victim who suffered non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper and lower body. Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was near the 200 block of West Pacific Coast Highway when he got into a dispute with a male adult suspect, resulting in the stabbing. Officers were unable to locate a crime scene or the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
  • Officers investigate a fatal traffic collision: On Aug. 31, 2022, at approximately 4:49 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Paramount Boulevard and Coolidge Street regarding an injury traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male adult victim in the roadway. Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene and determined the victim deceased. The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Paramount Boulevard. The male adult driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Detectives were notified and responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing. A news release will be published later today with additional details.
