LBPD Blotter – August 22, 2022

Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate a no-hit shooting - Last night, at approximately 9:40 p.m., officers responded to the 1300 block of East 15th Street regarding a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located evidence in the area indicating a shooting had occurred, including casings and several residences that had been struck by gunfire. Through their investigation, officers determined an occupied vehicle in the area had also been struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported. At this time, no suspect information is available and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing. 
  • Officers investigate a fatal traffic collision: On Aug. 22, 2022, at approximately 1:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a pedestrian walking in lanes of traffic at East 7th Street and Campus Drive, which resulted in the death of a female adult.   • Officers investigate fatal hit shooting: On Aug. 21, 2022, at approximately 11:44 a.m., officers responded to the area of Harbor Avenue and 67th Way regarding a shooting which resulted in the death of a male adult. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and determined the victim deceased at the scene. At this time, no suspect information is available and the motive for the shooting is unknown. A news release with additional details will be published later today on our news release page here.
