As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
The LBPD will have additional police presence today, including patrol officers and Neighborhood Safety Bike Team officers, to engage with residents and businesses.
- Stabbing – 2000 block of East Pacific Coast Highway: On Sept. 28, 2024 at approximately 6:18 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of East Pacific Coast Highway regarding a stabbing. The preliminary investigation indicates a male adult victim was in a physical altercation which escalated when one of the suspects stabbed the victim multiple times in the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived. Suspect information and the motive for the stabbing are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
- Stabbing – 5100 block of 2nd Street: On Sept. 29, 2024 at approximately 2:03 a.m., officers responded to the 5100 block of 2nd Street regarding a stabbing. The preliminary investigation indicates that a male adult victim and a male adult suspect were in a physical altercation which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim in the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Suspect information and the motive for the stabbing are under investigation. No other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.

Stabbing – 200 block of Pine Avenue: On Sept. 29, 2024 at approximately 2:20 a.m., officers responded to a local hospital regarding two stabbing victims. The preliminary investigation indicates that two female adult victims were in a physical altercation in the 200 block of Pine Avenue with a female adult suspect. The altercation escalated when the suspect stabbed each victim in the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported both victims to a local hospital in stable condition. Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate a crime scene. Suspect information and the motive for the stabbing are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

Stabbing – 5100 block of 2nd Street: On Sept. 29, 2024 at approximately 4:50 a.m., officers responded to a local hospital regarding a stabbing victim. The preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 3:00 a.m., the victim was outside in a dispute with a group of female adult subjects, which escalated when one female suspect punched the victim, and a second female suspect stabbed the victim in the upper body. The victim self-transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Suspect information and the motive for the stabbing are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
Further investigation indicates that this incident was unrelated to the earlier incident that occurred on 2nd Street.
