As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

On September 15, 2023 at 9:23 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of Pacific Avenue regarding a shooting into an inhabited dwelling. Upon arrival, officers contacted the calling party, who found their residence and vehicle had been struck by gunfire. Officers located strike marks on the residence and vehicle, indicating a shooting had occurred. No suspect information is known at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
- On September 15, 2023 at 11:36 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Pacific Place regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult and female adult victim with non-life threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victims to a local hospital for their injuries. The preliminary investigation suggests the victims were walking in the area when they were approached by a male adult suspect and were stabbed. The victims shared the incident occurred in the 3400 block of Long Beach Boulevard. Officers went to that area but were unable to locate a crime scene. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. The investigation is ongoing.
