As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

Officers investigate a no-hit shooting: On Sept. 22, 2023, at approximately 9:07 p.m., officers responded to the 5400 block of Paramount Boulevard regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers contacted multiple calling parties, who stated that they heard gunshots coming from an unknown direction. Officers located bullet casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. At this time, no suspect information is available, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
- Officers investigate a stabbing: On Sept. 22, 2023 at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Loma Avenue regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from a non-life-threatening stab wound to the lower body. Officers rendered aid to the victim and Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for their non-life-threatening injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates that a verbal altercation occurred between the victim and a relative, a male adult suspect, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. Officers located the suspect who was nearby, he was subsequently arrested and transported to Long Beach City Jail for booking. He was identified as Juan Aguayo, a 30-year-old resident of the City of South Gate, who was booked for assault with a deadly weapon and possession of nitrous oxide. Bail was set at $30,000. The investigation is ongoing.
