Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Officers investigate a stabbing and arrest suspect: On Sept. 19, 2023, at approximately 7:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of East Pacific Coast Highway regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel provided medical aid to the victim on scene. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was working at a liquor store when a male adult suspect entered the store and started a dispute. The victim walked the suspect out of the store, where he became angry and stabbed the victim with a screwdriver. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Officers located the suspect nearby. The suspect was uncooperative, and a use of force occurred where officers used a takedown to bring the suspect into custody. Officers located the screwdriver in the suspect’s possession. The suspect was medically cleared at a local hospital and transported to Long Beach City Jail for booking. The investigation is ongoing.
