Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Officers investigate a stabbing - Today at approximately 12:01 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Rose Avenue regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was engaged in a verbal dispute with an unknown male adult suspect, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect fled towards an unknown direction prior to officers’ arrival. No additional suspect information is known, and the investigation is ongoing.
- Officers investigate a fatal traffic collision – Today at approximately 2:07 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 710 freeway near 7th Street. Upon arrival, officers found two vehicles had been involved in a collision, one being a Long Beach Fire Department BLS unit. Additional Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and determined the passenger of the private vehicle, a female adult, had succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the private vehicle, a male adult, was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for injuries. The occupants of the BLS unit were not injured. The preliminary investigation suggests the private vehicle was driving northbound on the 710 Freeway when it struck the rear of the Long Beach Fire Department BLS unit before striking the center median. At this time, speed and intoxication appear to be factors in the collision. The driver of the private vehicle has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing. A news release detailing the incident is forthcoming.
