Officers investigate a stabbing: On Oct. 27, 2023, at approximately 5:51 p.m., officers were dispatched to Lafayette Middle School regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. Upon arrival, officers contacted a teenage male victim with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was in a verbal altercation with a known teenage male suspect, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect was still on scene when officers arrived and was subsequently arrested and transported to Long Beach City jail for booking. The 14-year-old male suspect was booked for assault-related charges. The investigation is ongoing.
This information is preliminary and is intended for early information use rather than being a formal investigative report.
