As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.


Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

• Officers investigate a hit shooting: On Oct. 26, 2023, at approximately 9:14 p.m., officers responded to the area of 25^th Street and Earl Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male juvenile victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for their non-life-threatening injuries. The victim stated he was in the 2300 block of Locust Avenue when he was approached by an unknown male adult suspect. A brief verbal altercation occurred, which escalated when the suspect shot the victim. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Officers were unable to locate a crime scene and no other injuries were reported. At this time, no suspect information is available, and the motive for the shooting in unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
