This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Officers investigate a hit shooting: On Oct. 26, 2023, at approximately 9:14 p.m., officers responded to the area of 25th Street and Earl Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male juvenile victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for their non-life-threatening injuries. The victim stated he was in the 2300 block of Locust Avenue when he was approached by an unknown male adult suspect. A brief verbal altercation occurred, which escalated when the suspect shot the victim. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Officers were unable to locate a crime scene and no other injuries were reported. At this time, no suspect information is available, and the motive for the shooting in unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
