As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.


Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate negligent discharge of a firearm: On October 25, 2023, at approximately 11:39 p.m., officers responded to the 7200 block of East Ocean Boulevard regarding a negligent discharge of a firearm. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including bullet casings and a firearm, indicating a shooting had occurred. Officers contacted a male adult suspect arrested him and subsequently transported him to Long Beach City Jail for booking. The suspect was identified as Gabriel Sandoval, a 50-year-old resident of the City of Wilmington, who was booked for felon in possession of a firearm and negligent discharge of a firearm. Bail is pending magistrate review. The investigation is on-going.
