As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

No-Hit Shooting – Warren Avenue and Werner Street - Today at approximately 12:04 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Warren Avenue and Werner Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers contacted an uninjured male adult victim who stated he was driving in the area when he noticed a vehicle stopped near Warren Avenue and Werner Street. As the victim drove past the vehicle, a male adult suspect exited the vehicle and discharged a firearm towards the victim’s direction, missing him. The suspect fled in their vehicle towards an unknown direction prior to the officers’ arrival. The motive for the incident is unknown. No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

Hit-Shooting – Pacific Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard - On Oct. 19, 2023, at approximately 7:12 p.m., officers were dispatched to a local hospital regarding a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening injuries to the lower body. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was standing outside his vehicle in the area of Pacific Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard, when he was approached by an unknown vehicle with an unseen number of occupants, who abruptly discharged a firearm at the victim, striking him. The suspect(s) fled in the vehicle towards an unknown direction. Suspect information and motive for the incident are unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
