As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Officers investigate a shooting – On Oct. 16, 2023, at approximately 5:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Public Safety Building located at 400 W Broadway, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon report. Upon arrival, officers contacted an uninjured male adult victim who stated he was in the 400 block of Zona Court when he engaged in a verbal dispute with an unknown male adult suspect. This escalated when the suspect revealed a firearm and discharged it towards the victim, missing him. The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction. Officers located a crime a scene at the 400 block of Zona Court as well as ballistic evidence, including bullet casings, indicating a shooting occurred. No suspect information is known, and the investigation is ongoing.

Officers investigate a no-hit shooting –Today at approximately 7:07 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Olive Avenue regarding a shots call, later determined to be a shooting into an inhabited dwelling. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including bullet casings and strike marks, indicating a shooting had occurred. No injuries were reported, no suspect information is known, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
