As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

- On Oct. 14, 2023 at 6:34 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Shoreline Drive and Aquarium Way regarding an injury traffic collision. Preliminary information reveals a male adult was driving a vehicle when he struck multiple vehicles and pedestrians in a crosswalk. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and determined an adult female to be deceased. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported an unknown number of additional victims to a local hospital. One victim is in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing. There is moderate impact to traffic on Shoreline Drive from Chestnut Avenue to Pine Avenue. A news release detailing the information will be available tomorrow morning.
- On Oct. 14, 2023 at 12:10 a.m., officers responded to the area of Long Beach Boulevard and 1st Street regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life threatening stab wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries. Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was walking on the sidewalk when he was assaulted by an unknown male adult suspect and stabbed in the upper body. The suspect fled the area in an unknown direction. The investigation is ongoing.
- On Oct. 14, 2023 at 2:58 a.m., officers responded to the area of Pacific Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway regarding a gunshot wound victim. Two male adult victims self-transported to a local hospital after they were shot at in the area of Pacific Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway by an unknown suspect. Officers responded to the area and located casings. Gang Detectives responded to the crime scene and evidence was collected. The motive and circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.
