Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate a stabbing: On Oct. 10, 2023, at approximately 9:36 p.m., officers responded to the 6200 block of Marina Drive regarding a stabbing. The preliminary investigation indicates that a male adult victim observed the male adult suspect attempting to steal his parked vehicle. When the suspect saw the victim, he began to flee. The victim followed the suspect and confronted him, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times in the upper body with a knife. The suspect then fled the scene. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. Officers located the suspect in the 6500 block of Pacific Coast Highway, and a foot pursuit ensued, ending in the 6400 block of Marina Drive. Officers observed the suspect was still in possession of the knife. They attempted to deescalate the situation; however, the suspect was uncooperative. Officers used less-lethal 40mm rounds. The suspect stabbed himself multiple times in the upper body. Eventually, the suspect dropped the knife and officers were able to take the suspect into custody. Officers rendered medical aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and transported the suspect to a local hospital, in stable condition, for medical clearance. Officers recovered the knife. At this time, the suspect is a John Doe who was booked for attempted murder and exhibiting a deadly weapon to resist arrest. Bail is set at $1,000,000. The investigation is ongoing.
