As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.


While the city website was down, we posted our daily LBPD Blotter on X. Please see below regarding the overnight incidents that occurred from Nov. 16 – 27:


11/16/23

  • No shootings nor stabbings were reported.

11/17/23

  • Officers investigate a hit shooting: On Nov. 17, 2023, at approximately 3:58 a.m., officers responded to the area of Pine Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his non-life-threatening injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was outside when he was shot by an unknown suspect who was in a vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled the area before officers’ arrival. Officers located evidence indicating a shooting had occurred. At this time, no suspect information nor motive is known. The investigation is ongoing.

11/18/23

  • Officers investigate a hit shooting: On Nov. 18, 2023, at approximately 12:18 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of E. Market Street regarding a shooting. The preliminary investigation indicates two male adults were in a verbal altercation. One of the men began to run away and the second man (suspect) fired shots towards him. Both men fled the scene. An uninvolved man was struck by gunfire in the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported him to a local hospital for his non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

11/19/23

  • Officers investigate a hit shooting: On November 18, 2023, at approximately 10:38 p.m., officers responded to the area of East 53rd Street and Long Beach Boulevard regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was in altercation with a male adult suspect when the victim was shot. The suspect fled the scene before officers’ arrival. Officers located evidence that a shooting had occurred. At this time, no suspect information is available. The investigation is ongoing.

11/24/23

  • Officers investigate a stabbing and make arrest - On Nov. 23, 2023, at approximately 8:21 p.m., officers responded to the 1700 block of E Pacific Coast Highway regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female adult victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for their injuries. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim and a known female adult suspect were engaged in an altercation which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. During their investigation, officers confirmed the suspect was still on scene, which subsequently resulted in her arrest and transport to Long Beach City Jail for booking. The suspect has been identified as Paola Figueroa, a 31-year-old resident of Long Beach, was booked on one count of assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $35,000. The investigation is ongoing.

11/25/23

  • Officers investigate a shooting: On Nov. 24, 2023, at approximately 9:17 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Golden Shore regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located evidence indicating that a shooting had occurred. The suspect(s) fled the scene before police arrived. Suspect information and motive for the shooting is under investigation. No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

  • Officers investigate a shooting: On Nov. 24, 2023, at approximately 11:35 p.m., officers responded to the area of the 2000 block of Orange Avenue regarding a shooting. The preliminary investigation indicates a male adult victim was driving his vehicle when a male adult suspect standing outside fired a gun, striking his vehicle. Officers located evidence indicating that a shooting had occurred. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Suspect information and motive for the shooting is under investigation. No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

11/27/23

  • Officers investigate a robbery and shooting: On Nov. 27, 2023, at approximately 4:18 a.m., officers responded to the 6000 block of Long Beach Boulevard regarding a robbery and shooting. The preliminary investigation indicates a male adult suspect entered a business and attempted to steal several items before being stopped by the male adult victim in a physical altercation. The suspect fled on foot and fired a gun multiple times back at the business. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the altercation and declined medical treatment. Suspect information is under investigation. No injuries from the shooting were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
