As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.


Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate a stabbingOn Nov. 27, 2023, at approximately 5:34 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Long Beach Boulevard regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary information suggests the victim and an unknown male adult suspect and female adult suspect were engaged in a physical altercation, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspects fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. No additional suspect information is known, and the investigation is ongoing. 
  • Officers investigate a shooting On Nov. 28, 2023, at approximately 1:42 a.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Stanley Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was 3000 block of East Anaheim Street, when he was approached by an unknown vehicle with an unknown number of occupants. After a brief verbal exchange, an unknown suspect fired shots at the victim. The suspect(s) fled the scene before officers arrived. Suspect information and motive for the shooting is under investigation. It was later determined that the shooting victim was the suspect in a burglary that occurred at approximately 1:19 a.m., in the same area. Once the suspect received medical clearance, he was transported to Long Beach City Jail for booking. The investigation is ongoing.
