Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate a shooting - On Nov. 10, 2023, at approximately 8:33 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue and East Pacific Coast Highway regarding a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers contacted two female adult victims with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victims to a local hospital where they were listed in stable condition. The preliminary information suggests that while at a large gathering, one male adult suspect, suspect #1, discharged a firearm towards a group of subjects, subsequently resulting in another male adult suspect, suspect #2, returning fire. The incident resulted in the two victims being struck by gunfire. Both male adult suspects fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. No other injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was engaged in physical altercation with a known male adult suspect at a residence, which was escalated when the suspect shot the victim. The suspect fled on foot prior to officers’ arrival. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Officers investigate a no-hit shooting - On Nov. 10, 2023, at approximately 10:54 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Chestnut Avenue regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including bullet casings, indicating a shooting occurred. The preliminary investigation suggests two groups of male subjects were in the area, when a male suspect from one group fired shots at the other group, resulting in a second male suspect from the other group, returning fire. Both suspects missed and no injuries were reported. The motive for the incident and additional suspect information is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
