As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

Officers investigate a hit shooting: On May 6, 2023 at approximately 7:56 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Lime Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with a gunshot wound to the lower body. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. Responding officers were unable to locate a crime scene. Detectives were notified and the investigation is ongoing.
- Officers investigate a no-hit shooting: On May 6, 2023 at approximately 8:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of South Street regarding a no-hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers located casings, indicating a shooting occurred. Preliminary investigation revealed a male adult suspect entered the business and fired gunshots towards the victim. The male adult victim was not struck by gunfire and there were no injuries reported. Detectives were notified and the investigation is ongoing.
- Officers investigate a stabbing: On May 6, 2023 at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Dawson Avenue regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male juvenile victim who sustained a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. Preliminary investigation revealed a male adult suspect approached the victim in the 1000 block of Orange Avenue and stabbed the victim one time in the upper body. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital. The victim was uncooperative with the investigation. Responding officers were unable to locate a crime scene. The investigation is ongoing.
