Attempted Murder Arrest

Following an April 6 hit-shooting in the 5900 block of Linden Avenue, LBPD Gang detectives worked diligently in gathering sufficient evidence to identify a suspect. On May 4, 2023 at approximately 10:30 p.m., detectives located the identified suspect in the area of Atlantic Avenue and 60th Street and arrested him. Following the suspect’s arrest, detectives served a search warrant at his residence in the 5900 block of Linden Avenue. Upon their arrival, detectives located ammunition and a firearm matching the description given by the victim. After his arrest, the suspect was transported to Long Beach City jail for booking. The suspect was identified as Joseph Lee Wilson, a 54-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was booked on one count of attempted murder, one count of prohibited possessor in possession of a firearm, one count of assault with a firearm, and one count of prohibited possessor in possession of ammunition. Bail was set a $1,000,000.
