As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.


Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night.

Officers are investigating the following commercial robberies:

UPDATE: 5/26/24 at 11:30 a.m.: An update was issued to reflect the correct address of the bolded location below.

  • On May 25, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a convenience store located at 3410 Long Beach Boulevard regarding a robbery.  The preliminary investigation revealed two male adult suspects entered the store and walked behind the employee counter.  One of the suspects reached into his front waistband area, simulating he had a weapon, and demanded cash. The loss was cash.  No injuries were reported, no additional suspect information is known, and the investigation is ongoing.

  • On May 26, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to a convenience store located at 5000 block of Long Beach Boulevard regarding a petty theft.  The preliminary investigation revealed three male suspects and one female suspect entered the store.  One of the males reached over the counter and stole the cash register.  All four suspects left the store and fled in a vehicle before police officers’ arrival. No injuries were reported, no additional suspect information is known, and the investigation is ongoing.

  • On May 26, 2024, at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to a convenience store located at 2001 South Street regarding an armed robbery. The preliminary investigation indicates that a male adult suspect was at the register attempting to buy miscellaneous items, when he revealed a firearm and demanded cash from the register. The store employee complied with the suspect’s demands and the suspect fled the scene on foot.  The loss was cash. No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
