As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.


Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night.

• Hit Shooting – 1000 block of Molino Avenue: On May 22, 2024, at approximately 10:13 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Molino Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates an unknown male adult suspect shot the victim and fled in a vehicle before officers arrived. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting are under investigation. No other injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
  
  
• Stabbing – 300 block of Orange Avenue: On May 23, 2024, at approximately 4:32 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Orange Avenue regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was approached by a known male adult suspect and unknown male adult suspect and was suddenly stabbed. The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived. Suspect information and the motive for the stabbing are under investigation. No other injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
