As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.


Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night.

  • Hit Shooting - 1300 Long Beach BoulevardOn May 19, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers were on patrol in the 1300 block of Long Beach Boulevard when they witnessed a shooting. Officers began rendering medical aid to a male adult victim with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition. The suspect surrendered at the scene and was taken into custody without incident.  The suspect was identified as Kileo Taylor-Morrison, a 22-year-old resident of Bell, who was booked on one count of attempted murder. Bail was set at $2,000,000. Officers recovered a loaded firearm. The motive for the shooting is unknown and investigation is ongoing.

  • No-Hit Shooting - 5300 Cedar Ave: On May 19, 2024 at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of East 53rd Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of a shooting near the area of Plymouth Street and Cedar Avenue. The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect(s) fired shots then fled the scene before officers arrived. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting are under investigation. No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
