As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Officers Investigate a Hit Shooting - On May 1, 2023, at approximately 7:20 p.m., officers responded to the 5400 block of Paramount Boulevard regarding a hit shooting. A male adult victim was located with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire Department personnel in stable condition. At this time, suspect information, motive, and circumstances leading up to the shooting are unknown. The suspect fled before officers' arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
- Officers Investigate a Stabbing – On May 1, 2023, at approximately 9:56 p.m., officers were dispatched to assist the Long Beach Fire Department with a stabbing victim. Upon arrival, officers contacted an uncooperative victim with a stab wound to his lower body. The victim refused to cooperate with the investigation. He was transported to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. Officers were unable to locate a crime scene. Investigation is ongoing.
