As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.


Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night.

  • Homicide Investigation – 5700 block of Paramount Boulevard: On May 11, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers responded to the 5700 block of Paramount Boulevard regarding a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers contacted a female adult victim with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and determined the victim was deceased. Homicide detectives responded and the investigation is ongoing.   • Traffic Fatality – Orange Avenue and South Street: Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a traffic collision which occurred on May 12, 2024, which resulted in the death of a 17-year-old boy. Read the news release for full details.

  • Hit Shooting – 500 block of Queensway Drive: On May 12, 2024, at approximately 1:01 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Webster Avenue regarding a traffic collision. Upon arrivalofficers located an uninjured female adult driver. During the investigation, officers found evidence indicating a shooting had occurred. The victim stated she and a known male adult victim were in the area of the 500 block of Queensway Drive when an altercation occurred with an unknown suspect(s), which resulted in a shooting. Officers were unable to locate a crime scene. Officers contacted the male adult victim in the area of Seabright Avenue and Hill Street with non-life-threatening injuries to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded, however the victim refused medical treatment and was uncooperative in providing additional details of the incident. The investigation is on-going. 

  • Hit Shooting – 11th Street and Long Beach Boulevard: On May 12, 2024, at approximately 6:15 a.m., officers responded to a local hospital regarding a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female adult victim listed in stable condition. The victim stated she was in the area of 11th Street and Long Beach Boulevard when the shooting had occurred and was uncooperative in providing additional details of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Stabbing – 12th Street and Fashion Avenue: On May 12, 2024, at approximately 7:33 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 12th Street and Fashion Avenue regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and suspect were in a verbal altercation, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect was arrested and transported to Long Beach City Jail awaiting booking. The investigation is ongoing.
