As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.


Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night -

UPDATE at 1:10 p.m.: The following inicident has been updated with additional information.

  • Hit Shooting – 1000 Block of Cedar Avenue - On March 28, 2024, at approximately 6:40 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Linden Avenue regarding a victim with a gunshot woundUpon arrival, officers located a 14-year-old female victim with a gunshot wound to her lower bodyLong Beach Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim and a group of subjects were driving in the area of Cedar Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard inside a stolen Kia. While stopped at an intersection, one of the subjects engaged a male suspect while he was inside his vehicle, which resulted in the suspect shooting towards the group and striking the victim. The suspect fled in his vehicle prior to the officers’ arrival. The victim and subjects fled the scene in the stolen Kia until they reached the 1100 block of Linden Avenue where they let out the victim and called 9-1-1A crime scene was located at the 1000 block of Cedar Avenue. Suspect information is under investigation. The stolen Kia the victim was in during the incident was later recovered near the location of the original incident. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Hit Shooting – 1000 Block of Cedar Avenue: On March 28, 2024 at approximately 6:40 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Linden Avenue regarding a victim with a gunshot wound.  Upon arrival, officers located a 14-year-old female victim with a gunshot wound to her lower body.  Long Beach Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.  A crime scene was located at the 1000 block of Cedar Avenue. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
