As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Officers investigate a hit shooting - On 3/27/23, at approximately 5:49 p.m., officers responded to a hospital in the City of Lakewood regarding a report of a shooting victim who stated they were shot in Long Beach. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim in stable condition suffering from gunshot wounds to the lower body. Through their investigation, officers determined the shooting occurred at a residence near the 2200 block of McKenzie Street. Officers responded to the area, determined multiple subjects were inside the residence, established a perimeter, and issued callouts for the subjects to exit the residence. The LBPD SWAT team responded and conducted a search warrant on the residence but were unable to locate the suspect(s). During the incident, a male adult inside the residence was arrested for an unrelated outstanding warrant. At this time, no suspect information is available, the motive for the shooting is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
