Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate a hit-shooting - On March 25, 2023 at approximately 8:37 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of E. Shoreline Drive regarding a juvenile disturbance call. Upon arrival, responding officers observed a large crowd of juveniles disperse upon hearing presumed gunfire coming from an unknown direction. As the crowd dispersed, officers contacted a male juvenile victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The victim stated he was walking outside of a business when he observed approximately four male adults in a physical altercation. As the victim walked further from the altercation, he heard presumed gunfire coming from the area where the altercation occurred and observed that he had been struck by gunfire. The motive and suspect(s) information are not known at this time. No other injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

This information is preliminary and is intended for early information use rather than being a formal investigative report.
