Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Stabbing – 1400 block of Alamitos Avenue – On March 22, 2024, at approximately 6:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Alamitos Avenue regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim (Victim #1) with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. While officers were on scene, police dispatch notified them of a second stabbing victim (Victim #2) who came from the scene. The preliminary information suggests both male adult victims were walking in the area when they were approached by an unknown male adult suspect who immediately engaged Victim #1 in a fight. Victim #2 attempted to break up the fight, which resulted in the suspect revealing a knife and stabbing both victims. Victim #2 fled the scene and self-transported to a local hospital for his non-life-threatening stab wounds to his upper body. Shortly after officers arrived on scene, they spotted the suspect attempting to flee, resulting in his apprehension, arrest, and transport to Long Beach City Jail for booking. The suspect has been identified as Deandre Richard Woodrey, a 29-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was booked on one count of assault with a deadly weapon and for an open warrant for his arrest. Bail was set at $155,000.
