This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

  • No-Hit Shooting3400 block of Wilton Street On March 17, 2024, at approximately 8:46 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Wilton Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence indicating a shooting had occurred. The preliminary investigation indicates a male driver discharged a firearm into the air as he drove east on Wilton Street. No injuries were reported. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting are unknown. The investigation is ongoing. 

  • HitShooting6700 block of East Walkerton Street On March 18, 2024, at approximately 12:41 a.m., officers responded to the 6700 block of East Walkerton Street regarding a hit shootingUpon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower body. Officers rendered medical aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. The preliminary investigation indicates a male adult suspect shot the victim after a brief verbal exchange. Officers located and arrested the suspect nearby, and recovered a firearm. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for an unrelated medical condition. The suspect was identified as Douglas Hammond, a 65-year-old resident of Long Beach who was booked for assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a firearm in public Bail was set at $30,000. The investigation is ongoing.
