As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Officers investigate a non-fatal stabbing - On 3/18/2023, at approximately 2:59 a.m., officers responded to the area of East Ocean Boulevard and Long Beach Boulevard regarding a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from stab wounds to the upper body. The victim stated he was an occuapant in a vehicle when a female adult suspect that was also in the vehicle took his proprety and battered him. The victim exited the vehicle and was approached by a male adult suspect who stabbed him. The victim then ran from the are and suspect fled the scene prior to officers arrival. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. At this time, no suspect information is available, and the investigation is ongoing.
